So What is Warrior Coaching?
A survey conducted in July 2010 confirmed that only 1 in 3 people understood what a 'Mindset Coach' was though 85% of people would be prepared to consider employing one. I concluded from this that Warrior Coaching needs to be fully explained.
So how did Warrior Coaching begin? Well it all began with myself (Dean Grimshawe) studying Life Coaching. Life Coaching was developed from Executive Coaching where it was initially used within the corporate world to help staff set better goals, focus their activities, be more accountable and achieve higher. The tools within Coaching were designed to develop Clarity, Confidence, Belief, Motivation and Leadership in individuals while supporting them through their Challenges and Goals.
Nowadays most individuals at the top of their game have a Coach. Whether they are an Elite Sportsman, a Top Businessman, Salesman, Celebrity or an Adventurer it doesn't matter. Virtually every successful person has a Coach. However, many of the everyday public still don't recognise the benefit of Coach's or feel that they will benefit from employing a Coach? This is a product of lack of information and I believe everyone should have access to a Coach. Especially a Warrior Coach.
Warrior Coaching is a much more holistic view of Coaching which not only incorporates all of the value from Life Coaching but also incorporates other influences. Dean studied the Chakra system from Yoga, Chinese Philosophy, Human Mindset and the Earth's Cycles and Natural Rhythms to gain a much broader understanding of people and their motives. This makes Warrior Coaching an extremely powerful tool to help individuals unlock the power they hold within.

So How does it Work?
Well put simply it uncovers your Personal Values and aligns your Beliefs with your Goals and Dreams so they can be manifested into your life. Coaching assists individuals to navigate through life. Not all that different from Navigating open ground in a National Park. Once you have the map you need to know how to use the features on the ground and the compass in your other hand to plan your route. And you also need to be prepared and competent for when the weather changes so that you can still stay on track despite a change in conditions. Imagine having a clearly defined map of where you want to go with the skills and the confidence to navigate yourself there?
The most important thing an individual can do, if they do nothing else is get a Values Elicitation done. It takes only an hour to do and doesn't cost a lot of money but for many people it really focuses their energy and stops wasteful expenditure. A Values Elicitation literally provides you with information about what motivates you. Now most initial consultations I have begin with the client believing they know what drives them forwards. However, the Elicitation regularly throws up surprises which forces the client to rethink the way they approach their goals. And immediately they can recognise and experience positive changes.
An example of this is a guy called Dave (not his real name). Dave came to me to lose weight. He had tried everything. He had dieted, in fact he knew every diet out there. He had tried Personal Trainers. He had experimented with Fat Burners and researched every wonder drug on the market. In fact, a Coach was his LAST port of call and he only initially spoke with me because the first session is FREE. If he had had to pay for the first session he still wouldn't know what a Coach did, even though he'd spent thousands on his goals. Now Dave wanted to lose weight because of his health. He was concerned that his weight would bring him medical problems and as he was settled with a partner he wanted to be able to stay strong and healthy to enjoy the future. It was a commitment to his partner that he would lose weight for his health. As always we started with a Values Elicitation. Now I'm going to cut this short and get to the point. Dave scored a value of ZERO on his health! That's right his main reason for losing weight scored a ZERO on his own personal value scale. Do you think I was able to tell Dave why he wasn't hitting his goals? Deep down he had no desire to hit that goal and will power has never been strong enough to overpower your values yet. So it won't work when trying to force your body to lose weight. It turned out what motivated Dave to lose weight was Recognition and the ability to provide an example. Dave wanted admiration and for people to look up to him again. However, where his Confidence had taken a nosedive he was a little uncomfortable with saying this so always stuck with talking about his health. Well we worked with Dave's Confidence and fueled his goals with the energy of being looked up to as a role model. Dave did better than he had EVER done at losing weight. And a Coach is NOT a Personal Trainer. That's right a Coach can be more successful at assisting body transformation if the blockage that needs to be addressed is rooted in the mindset. That's a paradigm shift for many, though paradigm shifts are common in Warrior Coaching.
So Coaching is all about helping people genuinely understand their true motivations, then assists them to create appropriate goals that fit with who they really are. Any weaknesses that are potential obstacles to achieving success can be addressed and developed including Confidence, Belief and Motivation.
In fact once people have experienced Coaching they often don't go back to not being Coached. After all, life is a continual process which always has new challenges so why not have a great relationship with your own Coach? After all, the vast majority of people at the top of their game have one. Would they be at the top of their game without one?
